There will be many specialists from different countries giving interesting lectures and carrying out the postgraduate courses at 49th Nordic Lung Congress. Below you will find their short introductions. 

 ALAN ALTRAJA, the Congress Chair, is a Professor of Pulmonary Medicine and the Head of the Department of Pulmonology at the University of Tartu, Estonia. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tartu in 1990, trained at the Helsinki University Hospital, Finland, and specialized in pulmonary medicine at the University of Tartu in 1999. Alan Altraja received the scientific degree of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery (Ph.D.) from the University of Helsinki in 1999.

Prof. Altraja’s research interests include asthma and COPD with metabolomics and the systems biology-based approach; tuberculosis, and interstitial lung diseases.

Alan Altraja is a member of the Board of the Estonian Respiratory Society and a member of the European Respiratory Society, the International Union of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, and the Nordic Respiratory Academy. Prof. Altraja has been an Associate Editor of the Clinical Respiratory Journal/European Clinical Respiratory Journal and has contributed to numerous international journals as a reviewer.
